{"id":1279,"date":"2021-02-04T04:04:47","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T04:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allred10.com\/?p=1279"},"modified":"2025-11-24T14:06:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T14:06:24","slug":"1279","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/allred10.com\/?p=1279","title":{"rendered":"Checklist for a Fulfilling Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Since the beginning of mankind, the object and design of our existence has been happiness. \u00a0Some find satisfaction in their pretty face, sculpted physique, athletic prowess,\u00a0or\u00a0the places they have visited, the money they have made\u00a0or the media acclaim they have received. \u00a0Sadly, these are all fleeting sources of happiness because people age and trends change.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Others find satisfaction in being the smartest attorney, the best plumber, the most powerful politician or, the most artistic, charismatic\u00a0or intelligent person in their circle. \u00a0These accomplishments are gratifying but they are poor substitutes for true happiness because they are all inwardly focused are not sustainable.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The happiest place on earth is not Disneyland. It can be a fun diversion but there is no permanence in diversions, no matter how fun.\u00a0 The happiest place on earth is wherever we are, if we have a life of enduring engagement and meaning.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In order to find true fulfillment or joy, we must do something and not just wish for it. It is a daily process that is available to all who are free to act.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The path to enduring joy includes doing each of these every day:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Serve someone \u2013 Look for opportunities to lift someone else in a meaningful way. Dedicate yourself to a worthy cause that will give a continuing source of satisfaction for many years to come. Or, just continually do random acts of kindness.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u201cScientific research provides compelling data to support the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 anecdotal evidence that giving is a powerful pathway to personal\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 growth and lasting happiness,\u201d according to Jenny Santi, author of<em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The Giving Way to Happiness.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Smile\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Be Kind\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Help<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Learn Something \u2013We can learn in many ways, including school, books, exploration, surrounding ourselves with thought provoking people, etc. \u201cGreat minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.\u201d &#8211; Eleanor Roosevelt<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0According to Babbel Magazine (November 2017), \u201cA\u00a0review of\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0multiple studies, conducted by researchers at the University of\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Cambridge, found \u201crobust evidence that adult learning leads to\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0increases in self-esteem and self-efficacy.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Read \u2013 Listen \u2013 Discuss<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3.\u00a0\u00a0<strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Express gratitude \u2013 Remember this couplet:\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cLife is a show for you and for me,\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">And what you look for is what you see.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Look for joy in life. Exercise \u2013 A healthy body and mind crave exercise. Do something\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0active 5 hours a week, even if it is just\u00a0walking. If the activity\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0is\u00a0outside \u2013 even better \u2013 because you get a bonus dose of\u00a0<\/strong><strong>vitamin\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0D.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 In a study published in The Lancet, scientists at Yale and Oxford\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 collected data about the physical behavior and mental mood of\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 over 1.2 million Americans. The scientists found that those who\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 exercised regularly tended to feel bad for 35 days a year while\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 nonactive participants felt bad for 53 days, on average.
